Jerónimos Monastery

The Jerónimos Monastery (portuguese name Mosteiro dos Jerónimos), is a monastery of the Order of Saint Jerome located near the shore in the zone of Belém.

Is one of the most important examples of the portuguese late gothic manueline style of architecture in Lisbon. It was classified a UNESCO World Heritage in 1983.

The midnight sun is a natural phenomenon that happens in the summer months in places north of the Arctic Circle, when the sun remains visible at the local midnight. Around the summer solstice, approximate June 21 in the north, the sun is visible for the full 24 hours, given fair weather.

25 de Abril Bridge

The 25th April Bridge (portuguese name Ponte 25 de Abril) is a suspension bridge connecting the city of Lisbon to the city of Almada. It was inaugurated on August 6, 1966. Because it's a suspension bridge and has similar coloring, it's often compared to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. It was built by the American Bridge Company which constructed the San Francisco, Oakland Bay Bridge, but not the Golden Gate. With a total length of 2.277m, it's the 27th largest suspension bridge in the world.
